During this time of year when the air is moist and dampness in the bathroom is hard to control here is a mold protection for your bathroom tiles tip.

Put 1 cup of baking soda into a bowl and add a 1/4 cup of and mix well.  Dampen a sponge and scoop the mixture on to it. Rub onto the surface of the tile and let it sit for a while. Rinse thoroughly.

Brightening Your Laundry

When using homemade laundry detergents (and even with commercial detergents) our laundry sometimes will get a "dingy" look to them. A lot of money has been made by companies claiming to have solved the problem with their latest and greatest new detergent.

I have two money saving tips for you to try.

First throw in one or two tablespoons of epsom salts into the washing machine to brighten the colors.

Or you can use 1/2 cup of white vinegar in the rinse cycle. Dont worry, after pulling the clothes out of the dryer you may catch a hint of the vinegar smell, it will disappear after being run through the dryer.

Cleaning Tips and Tricks #3

Cleaning Your Shower Head

While most of us don't really think about the showerhead when doing your cleaning, it can be a source of problems especially if you have hard water.

Mineral deposits and line can clog the holes of the shower head and by doing so cause for a weaker water pressure.

There is a very simple solution for this. You will need a ziplock bag, a rubber band or string, a toothbrush and white vinegar.

Simply microwave some vinegar in a bowl. Pour the warmed vinegar into the ziplock bag and place over the shower head. Secure it with the rubber band or string and let it sit for about an hour.

After the time is up, remove the ziplock bag and discard the vinegar. Take the toothbrush and clean off any remaining deposits. Pour some warm water over the shower head to rinse.
